EPC Committee Meeting in Poland, February 2004

The EPC Committee meeting was held in Nowy Sacz, Poland from 31st January to 2nd February 2004 by invitation of Kazimierz Pazgan, who gave a short overview of Konspol Holding. Konspol Holding has been operating on the Polish market since 1982 and ranks among the leading manufacturers of chicken and meat products. The company is based in Nowy Sacz, Poland, and sells its products on both the domestic and the international market.

The first committee meeting of EPC focused on establishing personal contacts among the committee members and on Public Relations for the club. All committee members, Gerhard Wagner (President), Naum Babaev (Vice President), Kazimierz Pazgan, Frank Zanders ,  and Jochen Köckler participated in the 2-day meeting. The meeting was prepared by EPC Manager Heidy Schonebeck and Mr Pazgan's staff. The basis for development of the network among the committee members was optimal thanks to the great hospitality of Kazimierz Pazgan. He offered the committee members an ideal chance to see the situation in Polish politics, the economic situation of the poultry branch, and his personal strategy for his company in the weeks before the step to the European Union.

Regional Conference in Moscow in September 2004

The information event on the topic "Russian poultry production - Challenge in Europe" organised by the German Agricultural Society (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft, DLG) and the European Poultry Club (EPC) met with an encouragingly strong response. More than 80 participants, including many representatives of World Poultry Show exhibitors, came together in Moscow on 9th September 2004 to gather information about the future markets for poultry meat and egg production in Russia. Other participants included large-scale poultry farms, agricultural holdings and representatives of regional and supra-regional associations of Russian poultry businesses. Well-known experts such as:

commented in detail on the situation of Russian poultry meat and egg production as well as on questions about financing investments in Russia's poultry sector. The DLG/EPC event was held in the Golden Ring Hotel in Moscow in September this year.

EPC future activities

Following the successful start of the EPC during the last two years, EPC would like to continue along these lines.

Next year's conference in Brazil

In addition to individual network contacts organised by the management in Frankfurt, one large conference will be held where all members can meet. After visiting Russia in 2003 the Club will organise a conference and excursion in Brazil in 2005. The conference will be organised exclusively for EPC members. EPC is looking for a Brazilian co-organiser to establish as many contacts as possible.

Date for the EPC Congress 2005:  11 to 14 October 2005

Other activities

Homepage:

Since our last meeting, the EPC homepage (www.poultryclub.net) has grown. This means that news and changes on the homepage are now easier to find. This year it is possible to register online for our conference via our website. You can find information about the committee meeting in Poland there and you will soon find more information about our Congress 2005 in Brazil.

The experience gained after 18 months of EPC internet presence shows that many contacts were made with interested persons through this instrument. In 2004 we had 5013 visits to our website and this year we have had 5834 visits up to October. It is of great use especially for promoting the congress. We are still looking for further ways to increase the attractiveness of our homepage.

Establishing contacts:

There have been many requests for information on EPC from all over Europe, in particular information about EPC members from east Europe to establish contacts. Recently we have had many questions concerning our Congress in Brazil next year.
