Argentina’s poultry industry has recorded steady growth over the last decade and will be able to increase its share in the global in export markets
noted Mr Roberto Domenech, president of the Argentinean poultry industry association (CEPA), during the EPC Congress held in Argentina in October 2011.
R. Domenech expected additional scope for Argentina to export poultry meet to Asia, Europe and Africa. The congress, organized by CEPA and EPC, was focused on the exchange of business strategies, experiences and evaluations of trends in the poultry industry, especially the assessment of production parameters and the regional marketing strategies for South America and Europe.
Gordon Butland, Director of G&S Agriconsultans Co.Ltd., and Enno Herlyn, EW Group, gave an overview over the actual challenges for the European poultry and egg industry. The information concerning the denegation of GMO soybeans and the ban of batteries in egg production in Europe seemed to be very interesting for the Argentinean participants. The impact on Europe’s production will be great and will lead to important competitive advantages for the South American poultry business.
Guillermo Marsellain from the Argentinean MSU Company demonstrated that the Argentinean soy production actually is the most effective throughout the world because of minimal land management and some other advantages. The 35% tax on exports is a tremendous challenge for the soybean producers.
EPC President G. Wagner finally explained the concept behind the EPC and this congress, integrating “leaders of best practice” of the poultry business from Argentina and Europe.
The 10-year-anniversary of the EPC will be celebrated in the framework of EuroTier2012/WPS.
